About TGAS

The Telesio-Galilei Academy is a scientific association dedicated, as its aims make clear, to promoting openness in all branches of scientific endeavour. It would hope to help in the dissemination of views of all kinds through the scientific community. It is not interested in simply supporting a view because it is popularly held to be true. As is often quoted on the Hunger Site: 'A child can ask a question a wise man cannot answer.' We at Telesio-Galilei try to remember this and keep ourselves completely open minded when seeking solutions to the various problems facing science.

Telesio-Galilei Academy's Mission & Goals

The Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science, was established in September 2007. The Academies primary aim is to promote science. There are no economic interests, or considerations to the Academy. Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science for the betterment of science. The raison d'etre for the Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science and its affiliated Academies is the free exchange of scientific ideas. To champion the true scientific spirit, and encourage rational and scientific discourses for no reward other than the betterment of science; Telesio-Galilei Prizes and medals honoraria are ancillary to provide recognition of and encouragement for scientific work. Indeed, there are many points of disagreement and contention amongst scientific technicalities and concepts; as it should indeed be. That we should regard ourselves responsible as an Academy for upholding the right of rational disagreement as the most important principle governing our assembly.

Vision — Earth and Galaxy from Space

The Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science Aims and Goals

The Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science has been set up to offer support and encouragement in the quest for scientific truth. It is hoped that it catalyze research in the foundations of physics, chemistry, biology and, eventually, in all other scientific fields.

Particular emphasis will be given to supporting innovative ideas consistent with current knowledge and paradigms, but with promise of leading to new deeper understanding. The ideas involved in such research may not be always in precisely the same direction as existing ideas and may, at times, challenge them, and, therefore, they may not be able to attract support from conventional sources. Hence, one aim of the Academy is to support and encourage original research which is not necessarily restricted to ideas, subjects or methods currently receiving emphasis.

However, it is not always possible to recognize the value of new directions without connecting them to what has been achieved already in the sciences. The support and encouragement of such innovative ideas, which are not at the centre of the present development of existing paradigms, is a rather delicate matter to contemplate, and carries with it serious responsibilities which may be dealt with only through experience and judgement.
